I bought a 2004 ford freestar in march 2013. The battery was dead, so they replaced before I purchased it. They said the check engine light might come on since the battery was changed. Two weeks later the check engine light came on. Took it to ford dealer and the code had been cleared 54 starts earlier, so before we bought it. The van needed 700.00 in repairs. The dealership only offered to pay 70 percent saying they could have fixed it cheaper than dealer, but I did not trust dealership. They said they did not reset check engine light. But ford dealer had no reason to lie. The cam shaft sensor does not just go out or will your check engine light come on just because you change the battery. I threatened to take them to small claims court. Then we agreed on 70 percent of bill.
