Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I have been in business for about 2 months but I have 4 years experience within the financial services industry. In addition, I have 5 years experience as a financial analyst with The Home Depot.
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary service is advisory. We advise our clients on where their financial situation stands. We provide recommendations on how to fix and how to strive for financial goals.
We do not sell financial products (except insurance), so there sales gimmicks. We want to help you become financially healthy.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became interested in my line of work in undergraduate school. I started out as a marketing major but changed my major to finance after my first finance class.
After graduating from my undergraduate program, I went to work for a custody bank in Boston, MA. There my job title was fund accountant. As a fund accountant, I learned all of the back office functions of a mutual fund.
A few years later, I worked for an independent advisor. I performed reporting, trading and research. I worked there for a few years and while working at the financial firm, I attended night school to earn my MBA.
After graduating from Suffolk University, I received an offer to work at The Home Depot in Atlanta. I worked at The Home Depot for 5 years as a financial analyst. I was laid off and decided to go back to the financial services industry.
While looking for work, I interviewed with some of the big brokerage firms. I did not like their style of doing business, so I decided to open up my own firm.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I differentiate myself by offering my services at a lower rate. KES Financial is trying to offer affordable pricing because we believe that not just high net worth people should be the only ones receiving quality advice.
